چکیده
Marine microorganisms contribute to the health of global ocean by supporting marine food web and regulating biogeochemical cycles. Assessing microbial diversity is a crucial step towards understanding ocean. The waters surrounding Iceland are complex environment where relatively warm salty from Atlantic cool down sink deep. Microbial studies in this area have focused on photosynthetic micro- nanoplankton mainly using microscopy chlorophyll measurements. However, function bacterial archaeal picoplankton remains unknown. Here, we used co-assembly approach supported mock community reconstruct metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) 31 metagenomes sea surface seafloor four oceanographic sampling stations sampled between 2015 2018. resulting 219 MAGs include 191 bacterial, 26 two eukaryotic bridge gap our current knowledge microbiome.

متن کاملEcophysiology of Freshwater Verrucomicrobia Inferred from Metagenome-Assembled Genomes
Microbes are critical in carbon and nutrient cycling in freshwater ecosystems. Members of the Verrucomicrobia are ubiquitous in such systems, and yet their roles and ecophysiology are not well understood. In this study, we recovered 19 Verrucomicrobia draft genomes by sequencing 184 time-series metagenomes from a eutrophic lake and a humic bog that differ in carbon source and nutrient availabil...
متن کاملIdentification and characterization of a novel fumarase gene by metagenome expression cloning from marine microorganisms
BACKGROUND Fumarase catalyzes the reversible hydration of fumarate to L-malate and is a key enzyme in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and in amino acid metabolism. Fumarase is also used for the industrial production of L-malate from the substrate fumarate. Thermostable and high-activity fumarases from organisms that inhabit extreme environments may have great potential in industry, biotechno...
متن کاملThe reconstruction of 2,631 draft metagenome-assembled genomes from the global oceans
Microorganisms play a crucial role in mediating global biogeochemical cycles in the marine environment. By reconstructing the genomes of environmental organisms through metagenomics, researchers are able to study the metabolic potential of Bacteria and Archaea that are resistant to isolation in the laboratory. Utilizing the large metagenomic dataset generated from 234 samples collected during t...
